On February 10, 2024, the symposium commemorating the founding of the HIAS Anthropocen Research Center (HIAS-ARC) entitled “How Can Social Sciences Respond to the Anthropocene Crisis?” was held.
This symposium commemorated the establishment of the HIAS-ARC, which was established in July 2023. Through a commemorative lecture by Yoshifumi Nogi, Director of the National Institute of Polar Research, reports by Professor Emeritus Osamu Saito, Professor Emeritus Shunichi Teranishi, and Associate Professor Shinichiro Shirota (titles at the time of the event), and a general discussion, participants engaged in a lively exchange of opinions on the Anthropocene crisis.
This symposium was held as part of the Hitotsubashi University 150th anniversary celebrations.
